The Norway Spruce (Picea abies) is a hardy, medium to tall, evergreen conical tree. It makes an excellent tub plant. Norway spruce make for ideal Christmas trees with their traditional bushy shape and distinctive pine scent. It has plenty of branches for holding decorations and will bring festive joy to any corner. Instead of buying a cut tree, try your hand at growing a spruce that you can keep year after year.
Display in a decorative pot or a basket to hide the black nursery pot. Once Christmas is over you can plant it in the ground of transfer it to its own pot with drainage that you can move in next year.
The plant shown in the picture is just one example of our stock. These spruce come in all sorts of shapes and sizes, each tree is roughly between 80 -100cm tall.
Most conifers grow well in a wide range of soil types, preferring an open position.
They can be pruned lightly in early spring to restrict the size or affect the shape.
It can reach approximately 4m high by 1.8m wide in ten years.
