Description
Acer Rubrum Autumn Red.
Botanical Name: Acer Rubrum.
This cultivar of the red Canadian maple is regarded as one of the best. It is a beautiful rounded tree with ascending branches when young, maturing to a more rounded canopy. Great for autumn colour. Leaves stay green longer than other varieties before turning bright orange to deep red. All parts of the tree, for example, flowers, twigs and seeds, are red in varying shades.
Plant in full sun in a well-drained and well-worked soil. Take care to plant the bud union above the soil level.
Water in well and keep the soil moist until the tree is established.
Can cope with a wide range of soil conditions but prefers a humus-rich soil.
Dry and wet areas can be tolerated.
It can grow to 13 x 9m.
