Camellia Sweet Jane - 30cm Pot

Camellia ‘Sweet Jane’ is a Victorian-bred hybrid camellia celebrated for its exceptionally long flowering season and soft, romantic colour palette. Flowering for up to 5–6 months of the year, this variety produces rose-pink buds that open into masses of white to blush pink blooms, delicately edged in soft to deeper pink tones.

Adding to its appeal, Sweet Jane features attractive new growth in both autumn and spring, emerging in rich coppery-red hues that contrast beautifully against its glossy green foliage. Its naturally bushy, upright habit makes it a versatile choice for hedging, screening or feature planting.

For best performance, this variety thrives in well-prepared, mulched soil and a protected position, sheltered from harsh winds, extreme heat or heavy frost.

Care & Growing Tips
Plant in full sun to part shade in well-drained soil enriched with organic matter. Dig a planting hole at least twice the width of the pot and slightly deeper, and consider raised beds in heavier soils to improve drainage.

Position the plant so the top of the potting mix sits level with the surrounding soil. Firm gently, water in well and apply a layer of mulch (approximately 5cm thick), keeping it clear of the trunk, to retain moisture and protect the roots.

Keep soil consistently moist during establishment, which may take several months to a year depending on planting time. Once established, watering requirements can be reduced.

Prune lightly in early spring to maintain shape—avoid late pruning, as this may reduce flowering. Feed in spring with a quality general-purpose fertiliser, with a second application in mid to late summer if required.
