Corylus Crazy Filbert - 30cm Pot

Corylus avellana, commonly known as the Crazy Filbert, is a truly unique feature tree prized for its twisted, spiralling branches. In winter, after the leaves have fallen, its sculptural form is fully revealed, creating a striking architectural statement in the garden.

During the colder months, golden-yellow hanging catkins appear along the bare branches, adding seasonal interest and movement. In spring and summer, the tree is clothed in light green, serrated foliage, which then turns a warm golden yellow in autumn before dropping to reveal the dramatic branch structure once again.

Highly ornamental and versatile, its perfect for feature planting in garden beds, borders or front gardens, where its winter silhouette can be fully appreciated. Its twisted stems are also popular for floral arrangements and indoor displays.

Care & Growing Tips
Plant in full sun to part shade in well-drained soil. Corylus is adaptable to most soil types and tolerates a range of conditions including frost, wind and coastal exposure.

Water regularly while establishing, then reduce, as it becomes relatively drought tolerant once mature.

Mulch annually to retain soil moisture and suppress weeds. Minimal pruning is required—remove any unwanted or straight growth to maintain its distinctive twisted form.
