Kumquat Meiwa - 16.5cm Pot

Kumquat ‘Meiwa’ is one of the most popular kumquat varieties, prized for its sweet, aromatic rind and mild, tangy flesh. Unlike many citrus, the fruit is best eaten whole, where the sweet outer skin balances the gently acidic centre, creating a unique and refreshing flavour.

This compact, bushy evergreen tree produces deep orange fruit with very few seeds, slightly larger than other kumquat varieties. Fruit develops over a long season, providing extended harvests and ornamental appeal.

Flowering in late spring, it fills the air with fragrant citrus blossoms before setting its colourful fruit, making it both decorative and productive.

Care & Growing Tips
Plant in full sun in well-drained soil or a quality potting mix.

Water regularly during dry periods, especially while establishing and when fruit is developing. Mulch to retain moisture and keep roots cool, leaving space around the trunk.

Feed with a citrus fertiliser as directed to encourage healthy growth and fruiting.

Meiwa is more cold tolerant than many citrus varieties, making it a great choice for cooler climates.

Take care when planting—ensure soil is well-prepared and free-draining. In heavier soils, consider planting on a raised mound to improve drainage.
