Philotheca buxifolia ‘Cascade of Stars’, commonly known as Wax Flower, is a charming Australian native shrub prized for its masses of star-shaped white flowers and naturally cascading growth habit. Compact, hardy and easy to grow, this attractive evergreen plant is ideal for pots, garden borders and elevated planting positions where its graceful form can spill naturally over walls and garden edges.

In early spring, the shrub becomes covered in soft pink buds that gradually open into a profusion of delicate white star-shaped flowers. Water regularly during establishment. Once mature, it will tolerate short dry periods, although occasional watering during extended drought will maintain healthy growth.

Apply a light application of a low-phosphorus native plant fertiliser in spring if required.

Pruning is generally minimal. A light trim after flowering can help maintain a compact shape and encourage dense growth.

Mulch around the base to suppress weeds, improve soil quality and help maintain cool, even soil moisture. Avoid disturbing the root system where possible.
