Wisteria floribunda ‘Rosea’, commonly known as Pink Japanese Wisteria, is one of the most romantic and fragrant wisterias available. This award-winning climber is celebrated for its long, cascading flower clusters and soft, elegant colouring, making it a true showstopper in spring and early summer gardens.

In late spring to early summer, Rosea produces masses of exceptionally long drooping racemes, often reaching up to 60cm, filled with pale rose-pink, pea-like flowers delicately tipped with purple. Flowers open progressively from the base to the tip of each cluster, creating a layered, flowing display alongside emerging foliage. After flowering, attractive bean-like seed pods form, adding seasonal interest into late summer and winter. Dense, dark green foliage provides lush coverage through the warmer months before turning rich autumn tones.

A vigorous, long-lived deciduous climber, Pink Japanese Wisteria twines clockwise and is best trained on strong, permanent structures such as pergolas, arbours, trellises or fences. With care, it can also be grown as a free-standing half standard or feature plant in a large container.

Care & Growing Tips
Plant in full sun or part shade in moderately fertile, well-drained soil, with full sun producing the best flowering. Water regularly while establishing, then reduce once settled, as plants are drought tolerant once mature. Regular pruning is essential to manage size and encourage abundant flowering. Choose the planting position carefully, as wisterias do not like being transplanted.
Caution: all parts of this plant are toxic if ingested and may cause discomfort to pets and livestock.

Ideal for
– Pergolas, arbours and patios
– Covering fences or sunny walls
– Romantic, cottage or Japanese-style gardens
– Feature climbers with fragrance
– Large containers with sturdy supports
