Acer Inaba Shidare - 30cm Pot

Acer palmatum ‘Dissectum Inaba Shidare’ is one of the finest red weeping Japanese Maples, prized for its rich foliage colour, graceful cascading form and year-round ornamental appeal. This vigorous yet compact dissectum variety forms a rounded, weeping shape, making it an exceptional feature tree for smaller gardens, courtyards and containers.

The finely cut, lace-like leaves emerge deep black-red to burgundy in spring and hold their colour exceptionally well through summer without fading—one of its standout traits. As autumn arrives, the foliage intensifies into brilliant crimson tones, creating a dramatic seasonal display.

Its sculptural, cascading branches and soft texture make Inaba Shidare ideal for feature planting, particularly near water features, pathways or in Japanese-inspired gardens where its form can be fully appreciated.

Care & Growing Tips

Plant in a sheltered position protected from strong winds and harsh afternoon sun. Grow in well-drained, slightly acidic soil enriched with organic matter. Water regularly while establishing, keeping the soil consistently moist but not waterlogged.

Mulch well to retain moisture and protect the root system. Apply fertiliser at planting and again in spring as new growth appears. This variety generally requires minimal pruning—only remove dead or crowded branches during dormancy if needed.
