Acer × freemanii ‘Autumn Blaze’ (also known as ‘Jeffersred’) is a fast-growing, deciduous maple prized for its vibrant autumn colour and strong, reliable performance. This hybrid maple combines the best traits of its parent species, delivering rapid growth, excellent adaptability and a striking seasonal display.

Through spring and summer, Autumn Blaze produces a lush canopy of glossy green, palmate leaves that provide cooling shade and structure. As temperatures drop, the foliage transforms into brilliant fiery shades of red and orange, creating a spectacular autumn display that makes it one of the most popular feature and street trees.

With its broad canopy and upright form, Autumn Blaze is ideal for larger spaces where shade and visual impact are desired. It performs exceptionally well in urban landscapes, parks and residential settings.

Care & Growing Tips
Plant in full sun to part shade in well-drained soil. This variety is highly adaptable and tolerates a wide range of soil conditions. Water regularly while establishing, then reduce, as it is moderately drought tolerant once mature. Prune in late winter to maintain shape and structure. Apply a slow-release fertiliser in spring to support strong growth. Monitor for occasional pests such as aphids, scale or borers and treat if necessary.
