Acer palmatum dissectum ‘Bronze’ is a graceful weeping Japanese Maple prized for its finely divided lace-like foliage and rich seasonal colour changes. This elegant deciduous tree develops a cascading, mounded form that brings softness, texture and year-round interest to sheltered garden settings. Its delicate branching and ever-changing foliage make it an outstanding feature tree for courtyards, Japanese-inspired gardens and ornamental landscapes.

In spring, new foliage emerges in deep burgundy-red tones before maturing to rich copper-maroon through early summer. As the season progresses, the leaves soften to bronze-green, creating a beautiful layered effect across the canopy. In autumn, the tree delivers a spectacular display of brilliant orange foliage, transforming into a vibrant focal point before leaf fall. The finely dissected leaves provide exceptional texture throughout the growing season, even when viewed from a distance.

With its naturally weeping habit, Acer ‘Dissectum Bronze’ forms a broad cascading canopy that works beautifully near water features, pathways, rockeries and garden seating areas. Its compact growth makes it suitable for smaller gardens while still providing strong visual impact. The elegant form and colourful foliage ensure this Japanese Maple remains attractive across all seasons.

Care & Growing Tips
Plant Acer palmatum dissectum ‘Bronze’ in a sheltered position with morning sun or filtered light. Protection from hot afternoon sun and drying summer winds will help prevent leaf scorch and maintain foliage quality.

Prefers moist, well-drained soil enriched with organic matter. It adapts to a range of soil types once established, provided drainage remains reliable.

Water regularly during establishment and maintain consistent moisture during warm weather and extended dry periods.

Apply a balanced slow-release fertiliser in early spring, keeping fertiliser away from the trunk and surface roots.

Mulch around the root zone with organic material to help retain moisture, regulate soil temperature and improve soil structure.

Pruning requirements are minimal. Remove damaged or crossing branches during winter dormancy and lightly shape if required.

Suitable for cool to warm temperate climates when planted in a protected position.
