Acmena Smithii Firescreen - 33cm Pot

Acmena ‘Firescreen’ is a fast-growing Australian native shrub selected for its upright, relatively narrow growth habit and colourful new foliage. New growth emerges a fiery red before maturing to glossy green, providing attractive colour and dense evergreen coverage throughout the year.
Fluffy cream flowers appear during summer and may be followed by decorative purple berries. ‘Firescreen’ is a low-fruiting cultivar, making it particularly useful around pools, pathways and other areas where excessive fruit drop may be undesirable.
Naturally dense and upright, it makes an excellent privacy screen or hedge without requiring constant pruning to maintain its form. It is also psyllid resistant and generally has few pest or disease problems.

Mature size: approximately 5 metres high × 3 metres wide, but can be maintained significantly smaller with regular pruning.

Care & Growing Tips
Plant in full sun to part shade in any well-drained soil. Water regularly while establishing. Once established, ‘Firescreen’ is drought tolerant but benefits from occasional deep watering during extended dry periods.
Prune as required to maintain the desired height, width and shape. If you want to minimise fruit production further, prune during flowering or immediately afterwards. Apply a fertiliser suitable for Australian natives in spring to support healthy new growth.
