Alstroemeria Elite Purple Bicolour - 18cm Pot

Alstroemeria Elite ‘Purple Bicolour’ is a compact, long-flowering perennial featuring attractive purple bicolour flowers above fresh green foliage.

Its two-toned blooms add detail and seasonal colour to garden beds, borders and decorative containers.

Part of the Elite Series, this variety has been selected for its compact habit and extended flowering period. It also produces long-lasting cut flowers suitable for indoor floral arrangements.

Mature size: approximately 25–40cm high × 30–50cm wide.

Care & Growing Tips
Position: Plant in full sun to part shade. A position with some afternoon protection can be beneficial during Melbourne's hottest summer weather.

Soil: Prefers fertile, well-drained soil. For container growing, use a quality premium potting mix with good drainage.

Watering: Water regularly during establishment. Once established, the plant can tolerate short dry periods but performs best with consistent moisture, particularly during warmer weather.

Mulching: Apply organic mulch around the base to help retain moisture, regulate soil temperature and reduce weeds.

Fertilising: Apply an organic fertiliser seasonally, following the manufacturer's directions, to encourage healthy growth and ongoing flowering.

Flowering: Selected for its extended flowering period, with blooms possible throughout much of the year under suitable conditions.

Pruning & Maintenance: Once flowers have finished, gently pull the entire spent flower stem from the base of the plant rather than cutting it halfway down. Remove dead or yellowing leaves in the same way to encourage fresh growth.

Cut Flowers: Suitable for long-lasting indoor floral arrangements. Harvest flower stems as needed, taking care not to damage surrounding growth.

Container Growing: Particularly well suited to pots and planters thanks to its compact growth habit. Ensure containers have adequate drainage and water regularly during hot weather.
