Boronia Megastigma - 14cm Pot

Boronia megastigma or Brown Boronia is a small Australian native shrub treasured for its exceptionally fragrant spring flowers. The small blooms are produced in abundance, with rich brown to reddish outer petals and contrasting golden-yellow centres. Their distinctive perfume is the real highlight, making this a lovely plant to position where its fragrance can be appreciated.

Naturally compact, Brown Boronia works beautifully in pots as well as sheltered garden beds. The fragrant stems can also be picked for small floral arrangements, bringing their unmistakable scent indoors.

Brown Boronia can be somewhat particular about its growing conditions and may be relatively short lived, but its spectacular spring fragrance makes it well worth growing.

Mature size: approximately 50cm to 1 metre high × 40 to 60cm wide

Care & Growing Tips
Plant in dappled or light shade in moist but well-drained, slightly acidic soil.
Brown Boronia prefers a cool root zone, so mulch well and protect the roots from hot afternoon sun.
Water regularly enough to prevent the soil from drying out completely, but avoid waterlogging.
Feed lightly with a low-phosphorus native fertiliser before flowering and tip prune after flowering to encourage compact growth.
