Bush Rose ‘Bengali’ (Korbehati) is an award-winning floribunda rose admired for its beautiful apricot flowers, abundant blooms and exceptional disease resistance. Bred by Kordes, this attractive variety combines classic rose beauty with a compact, upright growth habit.

Producing an abundance of fully double, apricot-coloured flowers, ‘Bengali’ features generously petalled blooms that open into large, elegant cups. The warm apricot colouring brings a soft but vibrant touch to garden beds and borders, pairing beautifully with cream, white, pink and purple flowering plants.

With its naturally upright habit, ‘Bengali’ grows to approximately 1 metre high and 50cm wide, making it a practical choice for smaller gardens, mixed borders and dedicated rose beds.

This variety has received the prestigious ADR award, recognising its outstanding garden performance and disease resistance. It has also earned multiple international gold and silver medals, making it a highly regarded choice among modern garden roses.

Its excellent disease resistance and manageable size make ‘Bengali’ particularly appealing to gardeners looking for a colourful, reliable rose that requires relatively little maintenance.

Mature size: approximately 1 metre high × 50cm wide.

Care & Growing Tips
Position: Plant in full sun, ideally receiving at least 6 hours of direct sunlight daily for healthy growth and abundant flowering.

Soil: Prefers fertile, well-drained soil enriched with compost or organic matter. Avoid poorly drained positions.

Watering: Water deeply and regularly during establishment. Once established, provide additional water during extended dry periods, particularly through Melbourne's hot summers.

Mulching: Apply organic mulch around the base to retain moisture, regulate soil temperature and reduce weeds. Keep mulch clear of the main stems.

Fertilising: Feed established roses with a quality rose fertiliser from late August in Melbourne, followed by additional feeding during the growing season according to product directions.

Pruning: Prune during winter, generally in July for Melbourne gardens. Remove dead, damaged and crossing stems, then shorten healthy growth to maintain a compact, upright shape and encourage strong new shoots.

Flowering Care: Remove spent flower clusters throughout the growing season to encourage further flowering and maintain a tidy appearance.

Plant Health: ‘Bengali’ has exceptional disease resistance, recognised through its ADR award. Maintain good airflow around the plant and water at soil level where possible to support healthy foliage.
