Description
‘Persian Eyes’ (Vispereye) is a distinctive Rosa persica hybrid bred by Martin Vissers of Belgium. Its semi-double flowers open in shades of mid to deep pink, each marked with a dramatic dark chocolate-brown eye and a centre of bright yellow stamens.
The unusual flower pattern gives this rose a striking appearance in garden beds and mass plantings. Blooms are produced repeatedly throughout the growing season and stand out clearly against healthy green foliage.
With a low, spreading growth habit, ‘Persian Eyes’ makes an excellent landscaping rose for borders, foreground planting and larger garden displays.
Mature size: approximately 75cm high × 1 metre wide
Care & Growing Tips
Plant in full sun in fertile, well-drained soil. Water deeply while establishing and during extended dry periods. Feed established roses in late August and again after the main flowering flushes. Mulch in spring, deadhead regularly and prune in July, or August in colder and frost-prone areas. Remove fallen leaves and monitor for common rose pests and diseases.
