Camellia Avalanche - 25cm Pot

Camellia ‘Slimline Avalanche’ is a standout narrow-growing camellia, prized for its elegant columnar form and beautiful autumn flowering display. This variety produces masses of pure white, lightly scented blooms, bringing fresh colour and subtle fragrance to the garden when many plants are slowing down.

With its naturally slim, upright habit, Slimline Avalanche is ideal for tight spaces and narrow garden beds, where traditional camellias may be too wide. It works beautifully as a feature plant flanking entrances or pathways, in containers, or planted in rows for a refined hedge or screen. Once established, it can also be clipped into neat column or conical shape for a more formal look.

Adaptable and easy to grow, it performs well in both full sun and lightly shaded positions, making it a versatile addition to a wide range of garden styles.

Care & Growing Tips
Plant in full sun to part shade in well-prepared, free-draining soil enriched with organic matter. Dig a hole at least twice the width of the pot and slightly deeper, and consider raised beds in heavier soils to improve drainage.

Position the plant so the top of the potting mix sits level with the surrounding soil. Firm gently, water in well and apply a layer of mulch (approximately 5cm thick), keeping it clear of the trunk, to retain moisture and protect the roots.

Keep soil consistently moist during establishment, which may take several months to a year. Once established, watering requirements can be reduced. Prune lightly in early spring to maintain shape—avoid late pruning, as this may reduce autumn flowering. Feed in spring with a quality general-purpose fertiliser, with a second application in mid to late summer if required.

For hedging or screening: plant approximately 0.75–1.25 metres apart depending on desired density
