Camellia Japonica Man Size - 20cm Pot

Camellia japonica ‘Man Size’ is a magnificent evergreen shrub admired for its exceptionally large, pure white flowers and lush glossy foliage. Producing an abundance of elegant double blooms from early winter through to mid-spring, this striking variety brings brightness and sophistication to the garden during the cooler months. Its vigorous growth and dense habit make it equally suited to feature planting, screening and informal hedging.

The impressive blooms feature crisp white petals with beautifully ruffled centres surrounded by smooth outer petals, creating a refined and elegant display. Set against thick, glossy dark green foliage, the flowers stand out brilliantly and provide long-lasting winter colour. The evergreen foliage remains attractive throughout the year, making this an excellent structural plant even when not in flower.

With its strong upright growth and dense branching, ‘Man Size’ develops into a substantial shrub that is ideal for larger gardens. It performs beautifully as a specimen plant, flowering hedge or privacy screen and also grows well in large containers where its spectacular flowers can be enjoyed up close.

Care & Growing Tips
Plant in a part shade position or where it receives morning sun and protection from harsh afternoon sun. In Melbourne, a sheltered location protected from strong winds will produce the best flowering display.

Prefers fertile, slightly acidic, well-drained soil enriched with organic matter. If planting into Melbourne's heavier clay soils, improve drainage with compost before planting.

Water regularly during establishment and maintain consistent soil moisture during prolonged dry periods. Once established, it is reasonably drought tolerant but performs best with regular deep watering through Melbourne's dry summers.

Feed with a quality fertiliser formulated for camellias or other acid-loving plants in spring after flowering and again in mid to late summer if required.

Apply a generous layer of organic mulch each spring to retain moisture, suppress weeds and improve soil health, keeping mulch away from the trunk.

Prune lightly after flowering to maintain shape or create a dense hedge. Older plants respond well to rejuvenation pruning if required.

Frost tolerant once established and well suited to Melbourne and other cool to temperate Australian climates.
