Cercis canadensis ‘Little Woody’ is a compact ornamental tree prized for its colourful foliage, masses of spring flowers and naturally narrow upright habit. Perfect for smaller gardens and courtyards, this deciduous tree delivers interest across multiple seasons while fitting comfortably into tighter spaces. Its combination of textured foliage and spectacular flowering display makes it a standout feature in both contemporary and cottage-style gardens.

In spring, bare branches become covered in clusters of sweetpea-like lavender-pink flowers before the leaves emerge, creating a striking display that signals the arrival of warmer weather. Following the flowering season, attractive blue-green foliage develops, featuring a textured and gently crinkled appearance that adds depth and interest throughout summer. As autumn approaches, the leaves turn clear golden-yellow, providing another beautiful seasonal highlight before leaf fall.

‘Little Woody’ develops a naturally upright and narrow growth habit, making it an excellent choice where garden space is limited. Its compact size allows it to be used as a feature tree in courtyards, smaller suburban gardens and mixed landscape plantings. The spring flowers are also attractive to pollinators, helping to bring beneficial insects into the garden.

Mature size: approximately 3–4 metres high × 2–3 metres wide
