Prunus × yedoensis ‘Yoshino’ is a graceful deciduous ornamental cherry tree, admired for its abundant pale pink to white blossoms in early spring. Its delicate flowers typically appear before the new foliage emerges, covering the branches in a beautiful display of soft colour.

With its elegant, arching branches and broad, spreading canopy, Yoshino Flowering Cherry makes an impressive feature tree for larger gardens and open spaces. The spring blossoms are also attractive to bees and butterflies, bringing additional activity to the garden during flowering.

As the flowers finish, fresh bright green foliage develops, creating a leafy canopy throughout summer. In autumn, the leaves turn attractive shades of yellow and orange before falling to reveal the tree's graceful branching structure.

Offering beautiful spring flowers, summer greenery and autumn colour, ‘Yoshino’ is an excellent choice for adding seasonal interest to the landscape.

Mature size: approximately 10 metres high × 7 metres wide

Care & Growing Tips
Plant in full sun in fertile, well-drained soil. Prepare the planting area thoroughly before planting, ensuring the soil is well worked and drains freely.
When planting a grafted tree, keep the graft union above soil level. Water thoroughly after planting and maintain consistent soil moisture while the tree establishes, particularly during extended periods of hot, dry weather.
Apply a suitable slow-release fertiliser at planting and again as new growth develops, following the product's application instructions. Mulch around the base to help retain moisture and suppress weeds, keeping mulch clear of the trunk.
Prune only as required to remove dead, damaged or crossing branches or to maintain a balanced shape. Light pruning after flowering is preferable to heavy pruning, helping preserve the tree's naturally graceful, arching habit.
Allow plenty of room for its broad canopy to develop as the tree matures.
