Clematis Niobe - 20cm Pot

Clematis ‘Niobe’ is a striking deciduous climber producing large, velvety ruby-red flowers from spring through to autumn. The richly coloured blooms measure approximately 12.5 to 15cm across, bringing deep, dramatic colour to climbing structures and garden borders.

With a moderate climbing habit reaching around 1.8 to 2.4 metres, ‘Niobe’ is a manageable choice for trellises, fences and arches. Its relatively compact size also makes it useful in smaller gardens where a colourful but not overly vigorous climber is wanted.

‘Niobe’ belongs to Clematis Pruning Group 2, meaning it flowers on both old and new growth. Avoid hard pruning in winter, as this can remove stems carrying the first flowers of the season.

Care & Growing Tips
Plant in sun to part shade in moist, well-drained soil. Keep the root zone cool and evenly moist during warmer weather while avoiding waterlogged conditions. Provide a trellis, fence or other suitable structure for the stems to climb.
As a Group 2 Clematis, prune lightly. In late winter to early spring, remove dead or weak growth and trim healthy stems back to strong buds. Light pruning after the first flowering flush can help encourage fresh growth and further flowering.
