Darwinia Oxylepis - 14cm Pot

Darwinia oxylepis is a distinctive Western Australian native shrub from the Stirling Ranges, belonging to a group of Darwinia species collectively known as Mountain Bells. Its unusual bell-shaped display begins soft pink, deepening to a rich pink as it matures and flaring to form a prominent bell at the ends of the branches.
What appears to be a single flower is actually a cluster of around ten small flowers surrounded by large colourful bracts, forming a bell up to approximately 30mm long. Flowering occurs in spring, standing out against the plant's fine, narrow foliage.
In the wild, Darwinia oxylepis has a very restricted distribution and is listed as Endangered under the EPBC Act, making it a particularly interesting Australian native for collectors and enthusiasts.

Mature size: approximately 1–1.5 metres high

Care & Growing Tips
Darwinia oxylepis requires excellent drainage and is best grown in a well-drained position with some protection from direct summer sun.
For Melbourne gardens, careful site selection is important. Avoid heavy or waterlogged soils and positions where the plant will remain excessively wet.
