Description
David Austin Rose Sophy's Rose (Auslot).
Bears crimson-pink, rosette-shaped flowers; the petals are small at the centre and increase in size, by degrees, until the outer petals are quite large, resulting in broad, rather flat blooms. It forms an upright, bushy shrub with compact, twiggy growth. The beautiful elongated foliage gives the overall impression of airy lightness. Named after the daughter of the founder of the Dyslexia Institute. David Austin, 1997.
Care & Growing Tips
Plant in full sun in fertile, well-drained soil enriched with organic matter.
Water deeply during dry periods, keeping foliage as dry as possible.
Feed with a quality rose fertiliser in late August, then after each main flush of flowers through the growing season.
Apply organic mulch in spring to retain moisture and suppress weeds.
Deadhead regularly to encourage repeat flowering and prune annually in July while dormant.
Monitor for common rose pests and diseases during spring.
