Description

Fireball™ Apricot is a reliable and productive apricot tree grown for its exceptional eating quality and generous crops of sweet, juicy fruit. A long-standing favourite in Australian home orchards, this deciduous fruit tree produces attractive medium-sized apricots with deep orange skin and firm orange flesh. Ideal for backyards and edible gardens, it delivers dependable harvests and a wide range of culinary uses.
In late winter to early spring, the tree is covered in delicate blossom before fresh green foliage appears. Fruit ripens from November to December, producing smooth-skinned, deep orange apricots with a deliciously sweet flavour and juicy texture. Fireball™ is known for being a prolific bearer, with fruit that is resistant to cracking and excellent for eating fresh straight from the tree. The colourful fruit also adds ornamental appeal during the growing season.
Fireball™ Apricot develops into a medium-sized tree with a rounded canopy, making it suitable for home orchards, productive backyards and larger edible gardens. It is partially self-pollinating but will produce heavier crops when planted near compatible pollinators such as Spring Satin™ Plumcot, Dwarf Spring Satin™ Plumcot or another apricot or plumcot variety flowering at the same time.
Mature size: approximately 4 metres high × 3 metres wide
Care & Growing Tips
Plant Fireball™ Apricot in a full sun position to encourage strong growth, healthy flowering and maximum fruit production.
Prefers fertile, well-drained soil enriched with organic matter. Good drainage is essential for long-term tree health.
Water regularly during establishment and throughout flowering, fruit development and prolonged dry periods.
Apply a balanced fruit tree fertiliser in late winter before flowering and again after harvest to encourage healthy growth and future crops.
Prune during winter dormancy to maintain an open canopy, improve airflow and encourage productive fruiting wood.
Frost tolerant during winter dormancy, although late frosts may affect spring blossoms in colder regions.
For the best fruit set and heavier harvests, plant alongside a compatible pollinator that flowers at the same time.
