Description
Rose ‘Flower Carpet Mini Cherry’ (PBR) is a compact, low-growing shrub rose producing masses of vibrant cherry-red flowers throughout the growing season. Its colourful blooms emerge from pointed, oval-shaped buds and provide a lovely contrast against the plant's glossy, dark green foliage.
Part of the popular Flower Carpet® range, ‘Mini Cherry’ is valued for its continuous flowering, naturally compact habit and easy-care nature. The flowers have little to no fragrance, making this variety particularly appealing for gardeners who prefer roses for their colour and garden performance.
Growing to approximately 50cm high and wide, ‘Flower Carpet Mini Cherry’ forms a neat, rounded shrub that is ideal for smaller garden spaces. Its compact size makes it particularly useful for low borders, edging pathways and creating colourful, low-growing hedges.
With its generous flowering habit and manageable size, it is also an excellent choice for mass planting or adding colour amongst other shrubs and perennials.
Mature size: approximately 50cm high × 50cm wide
Fragrance: None to mild
Flowering: Continuous flowering throughout the growing season
Care & Growing Tips
Plant in full sun in fertile, well-drained soil, ideally receiving at least six hours of direct sunlight each day.
Water thoroughly after planting and regularly while establishing, particularly during extended periods of hot, dry weather. Once established, water deeply as required rather than frequently applying small amounts.
Apply mulch in spring to help retain soil moisture and suppress weeds, keeping it clear of the base of the plant.
Feed established roses in late August and again after the main flowering flushes to encourage healthy growth and continued flowering.
Flower Carpet roses generally require less pruning than traditional bush roses. In July, or August in colder and frost-prone areas, lightly trim the plant to maintain its compact, rounded shape and encourage fresh growth. Remove any dead, damaged or overcrowded stems as required.
Deadheading is generally unnecessary, although removing spent blooms can help keep the plant looking tidy.
Maintain good airflow around the plant and remove fallen leaves to help reduce the risk of fungal diseases.
