Hardenbergia HB1 Meema - 14cm Pot

Meema™ Hardenbergia is a tough, versatile Australian native ground cover with an upright, shrubby habit and excellent year-round performance. Unlike more sprawling forms, Meema™ maintains a naturally tidy shape, making it ideal for structured planting as well as informal landscapes.

From mid-winter to early spring (July–September), this variety produces masses of vibrant purple flowers that bring colour to the garden during the cooler months. Its foliage remains crisp and clean even through harsh conditions, including cold winters and hot, dry northerly winds—making it a reliable choice for challenging climates.

While primarily used as a ground cover, Meema™ Hardenbergia will gently climb if given support, adding flexibility in how it can be used in the landscape.

Mature size: approximately 50cm high × 2 metres wide

Care & Growing Tips
Plant in full sun to semi-shade in well-drained soil. This variety is highly adaptable, tolerating a wide range of soil types from sandy through to heavier clay soils. Water regularly for the first 8–13 weeks to establish, then reduce, as it is drought tolerant once mature.

Mulch well with a chunky mulch to retain moisture and protect roots. Apply a slow-release fertiliser in spring if needed to encourage healthy growth.

Pruning is minimal—trim once a year after flowering for a natural shape, or more frequently (2–3 times per year) if using as a hedge or for a tighter, more formal look.
