Hydrangea Magical Pearl - 20cm Pot

Hydrangea macrophylla ‘Magical Pearl’ is a beautiful deciduous shrub admired for its stunning white flowers that gradually age to soft chartreuse green. Part of the Magical Hydrangea range, this compact variety provides an elegant display of changing colour throughout the flowering season.

Beginning in summer and continuing into autumn, ‘Magical Pearl’ produces generous clusters of clear white flowers held on strong stems above deep green foliage. As the blooms mature, they develop beautiful green tones, adding another layer of interest to the garden.

One of the standout features of ‘Magical Pearl’ is its long-lasting flowers, which are excellent for both fresh and dried arrangements. The changing colours make it particularly attractive for floral displays, allowing the flowers to be enjoyed well beyond their time in the garden.

With its compact, rounded growth habit, ‘Magical Pearl’ is ideal for decorative containers, shaded garden beds and smaller gardens. Its classic white and green colouring works beautifully in formal gardens, courtyards and outdoor entertaining areas.

Mature size: approximately 90cm–1.2 metres high × 90cm–1.2 metres wide

Care & Growing Tips
Plant in part shade to full shade, ideally in a position receiving some morning sunlight with protection from harsh afternoon sun. In Melbourne gardens, a sheltered position will help protect the foliage and flowers during hot summer weather.

‘Magical Pearl’ prefers moist, well-drained soil enriched with organic matter. Keep the soil consistently moist during the warmer months, particularly while the plant is establishing and flowering.

Apply a layer of mulch around the base to help retain moisture, regulate soil temperature and keep the roots cool during summer. Keep mulch clear of the main stems.

Feed with a controlled-release fertiliser in early spring to encourage healthy growth and a strong flowering display.

‘Magical Pearl’ produces flowers on both old and new wood, so extensive pruning is generally unnecessary. If pruning is required to maintain shape or size, do so in late summer after flowering. Spent flower heads can be removed as needed to encourage fresh flowering stems.

For dried flower arrangements, allow the blooms to mature and develop their chartreuse-green tones before cutting.

Please note: Hydrangeas are harmful if eaten and may cause skin or eye irritation. Keep away from children and pets who may ingest plant material.
