Hydrangea Tea Time Chique - 20cm Pot

Hydrangea Tea Time™ ‘Chique’ is a beautiful compact deciduous shrub admired for its large, rounded clusters of cream and white flowers and lush green foliage. Part of the Tea Time™ Hydrangea range, this attractive variety brings soft, elegant colour to shaded garden beds, cottage gardens and decorative containers.

Flowering throughout spring and summer, ‘Chique’ produces generous, ball-shaped flower heads in delicate shades of cream and white. Its long-lasting blooms create a lovely display against the fresh green foliage, making it an excellent choice for traditional and contemporary garden settings.

One of the standout features of the Tea Time™ range is its ability to produce a repeat flush of flowers when trimmed after the first flowering period, extending the seasonal display under suitable growing conditions.

With its naturally compact, rounded growth habit, ‘Chique’ is particularly well suited to smaller gardens, courtyards and large decorative pots. Its beautiful cream and white flowers are also ideal for cutting and displaying indoors, including fresh floral arrangements and wedding displays.

Unlike some coloured Hydrangeas, ‘Chique’ maintains its cream and white flower colour regardless of soil pH.

Mature size: approximately 1 metre high × 1 metre wide

Care & Growing Tips
Plant in part shade, ideally in a sheltered position protected from harsh afternoon sun and strong winds. In Melbourne gardens, morning sunlight with afternoon shade is ideal.

‘Chique’ prefers fertile, well-drained soil that retains consistent moisture. Enriching the soil with organic matter before planting can help improve moisture retention and support healthy growth.

Keep the soil consistently moist during spring and summer, particularly during hot weather and while the plant is flowering. Reduce watering during winter when the plant is dormant.

Apply a slow-release fertiliser in late spring to encourage healthy growth and flowering. An annual application of mulch will help retain soil moisture, regulate soil temperature and keep the roots cool during warmer weather.

Tea Time™ Hydrangeas can produce a repeat flush of flowers when trimmed after their first flowering period. Cut back spent blooms after the initial display to encourage further flowering and maintain a neat, compact shape.

More substantial pruning can be carried out after flowering if required, although avoid removing excessive healthy growth unnecessarily, as this may affect subsequent flowering.

‘Chique’ maintains its cream and white flower colour across different soil pH levels, so soil amendments to alter flower colour are generally unnecessary.

Monitor for common pests and diseases, including aphids, mites and powdery mildew, and treat if necessary.

Please note: Hydrangeas are harmful to pets if ingested and may cause skin irritation in sensitive individuals.
