Pinus Vanderwolfs Pyramid - 20cm Pot

Pinus flexilis ‘Vanderwolf’s Pyramid’ is a striking evergreen conifer valued for its soft silver-blue needles and naturally symmetrical pyramidal form. A selected form of the hardy Limber Pine, this ornamental tree brings year-round colour and structure to the garden while maintaining a softer, more relaxed appearance than many traditional conifers.

The long twisted needles carry an attractive blue-silver tone throughout the year, creating strong contrast against green garden planting and darker evergreens. Its dense upright habit forms a naturally balanced pyramid shape with minimal pruning required. Slow growing when young, ‘Vanderwolf’s Pyramid’ gradually develops into a substantial feature tree with excellent presence in the landscape.

This hardy pine is well suited to larger gardens, feature lawns and mixed conifer plantings where year-round form and foliage colour are important. Its soft textured foliage works particularly well in contemporary landscapes, alpine-style gardens and cool-climate planting schemes. Once established, it is reliable and relatively low maintenance, handling frost, dry conditions and exposed sites well provided drainage is good.

Mature size: approximately 3 metres high in 10 years, eventually reaching around 5 metres high × 3 metres wide

Care & Growing Tips
Plant Pinus ‘Vanderwolf’s Pyramid’ in a full sun position for best foliage colour and dense growth.

Prefers well-drained soil and adapts well to sandy, loamy and rocky conditions. Avoid poorly drained or waterlogged soils.

Water regularly during establishment. Once mature, it is relatively drought tolerant but benefits from occasional deep watering during extended dry periods.

Apply a slow-release fertiliser formulated for conifers in spring if needed to encourage healthy growth.

Very little pruning is required. Remove damaged or dead branches only if necessary while allowing the natural pyramidal shape to develop.

Highly frost tolerant and suitable for cool to temperate climates.
