Ornamental Pear Capital.
Botanical Name: Pyrus calleryana.
A highly ornamental, deciduous tree providing masses of spring blossom and reliable autumn colour. slender, columnar tree with a strong central leader and attractive symmetrical branching, growing to approximately 11m x 3m in twenty years. Dense growth habit with glossy leaves that turn reddish-orange and purple in Autumn. Single white flowers smother the tree in Spring. A hardy and disease-resistant tree. An excellent specimen tree providing year-round interest, highly suited to narrow spaces and urban sites.
- Prefers full sun. Adaptable to most soils including dry and intermittently wet soils.
- Tolerates air pollution.
- Stake tree when young. Mulch to retain soil moisture and control weeds.
- Fertilise during the growing season.
- Prune in Winter if required.
- Protect from strong winds.
Mature Height: H11 x W3m in 20 years.
