Description
Raspberry Chilliwack.
Botanical Name: Rubus idaeus.
The Raspberry is easily grown in the home garden, its arching canes are covered with delicious fruit that are produced in autumn on canes grown that summer. Raspberries are packed with nutrients and in particular, they are high in Vitamin C and Manganese. Their subtle tart taste and melt-in-the-mouth texture make them ideal for eating fresh or for use in pies, desserts, cakes and muffins. Chilliwack is a mid-season variety that has red to dark red, long and firm berries with excellent flavour and a picking season of approximately 4 weeks depending on your climate during summer. Chilliwack almost is completely thornless.
This deciduous shrub prefers a sunny to partly shaded position in acidic, moist, well-drained soil.
Mulch well to conserve soil moisture and prune to remove smaller, weaker branches and to open up the plant.
Mature Size: H2 x W1.5m.
