The Weeping Willow is a magnificent deciduous tree renowned for its elegant cascading branches and graceful silhouette. Fast growing and long lived, it develops a broad canopy of slender green foliage that gently sways in the breeze before turning brilliant golden yellow in autumn. Its striking form makes it one of the most recognisable feature trees, providing welcome shade and a dramatic focal point in large gardens and rural landscapes throughout Victoria.

The pendulous branches sweep towards the ground, creating a soft, flowing appearance that is particularly beautiful when reflected beside lakes, dams and waterways. During summer, the dense canopy offers generous shade, while its vibrant autumn colour adds another season of interest before the tree becomes beautifully architectural in winter.

Due to its vigorous root system and mature size, the Weeping Willow is best suited to spacious properties where it has plenty of room to develop.

Mature size: approximately 10–15 metres high × 10–15 metres wide

Care & Growing Tips
Plant in full sun in fertile, moisture-retentive, well-drained soil. Performs best where soil remains consistently moist and is well suited to planting near dams, creeks and larger water features. Water regularly while establishing. Feed with a balanced slow-release fertiliser in spring if required. Prune during winter to remove damaged or crossing branches and maintain shape.

Please note: Weeping Willows have an extensive, invasive root system and should be planted well away from buildings, paving, septic systems, drains, swimming pools and underground services.
