Serruria ‘Pretty n Pink’ is a stunning evergreen shrub bred by Proteaflora for its exceptional colour and long flowering season. This unique hybrid of Serruria florida and Serruria rosea produces masses of vibrant pink flower buds from late autumn, opening into brilliant fluorescent pink blooms through winter and into spring. Compact, elegant and highly ornamental, it is an outstanding choice for Melbourne gardens, decorative pots and premium cut flower displays.

The colourful blooms are held above fine, delicate foliage, creating a soft, airy appearance that contrasts beautifully with their vivid pink tones. Flowering over many months, ‘Pretty n Pink’ provides continuous seasonal interest and is highly sought after for floral arrangements, where the long-lasting flowers bring a fresh, contemporary look. Its naturally compact habit also makes it an excellent feature plant for courtyards, patios and smaller gardens.

Equally at home in the garden or a decorative container, this beautiful Serruria can even be brought indoors for a day or two while in flower, allowing its spectacular blooms to be enjoyed inside before returning it outdoors.

Mature size: approximately 1 metre high × 1 metre wide

Care & Growing Tips
Plant in a full sun position with at least six hours of direct sunlight each day. Good air circulation is essential for healthy growth and reliable flowering.

Prefers free-draining, slightly acidic soil. Excellent drainage is critical, particularly in Melbourne's heavier clay soils. Plant into a raised garden bed or mound if necessary, incorporating coarse sand or gravel to improve drainage.

Water regularly during the first year to establish a healthy root system, allowing the soil to partially dry between waterings. Once established, plants become moderately drought tolerant but benefit from occasional deep watering during extended dry periods.

Feed sparingly in spring using a low-phosphorus fertiliser formulated for Australian native plants or Proteaceae. Seaweed solutions or organic soil conditioners can also be used if additional nutrients are required. Avoid high-phosphorus fertilisers and excessive feeding.

Apply a 5-8cm layer of pine bark, wood chips or leaf mulch to help retain moisture and suppress weeds, keeping mulch clear of the base of the plant.

Prune lightly after flowering to maintain a compact shape, encourage branching and improve future flowering. Avoid heavy pruning into older woody stems.

Moderately frost tolerant once established and well suited to Melbourne's temperate climate, provided drainage is excellent.
