Simona Pot -

A small pot with a romantic past. Simona began in the flea markets of Paris, where Steffen Berg came across the shape that inspired it. Today it’s made by hand in Italy for the Bergs family, who have been making pots in Copenhagen since 1942.

A fine string of clay pearls sits along the rim. Soft fluted lines run down the body below it. It looks at home on a French dresser and just as easy on a modern windowsill.

At 14cm, Simona suits a kitchen bench or a sunny sill. Plant it with herbs, a strawberry, a small fern or a single orchid. Soak the pot in water before planting so the clay doesn’t draw moisture from fresh soil. The terracotta darkens when wet and pales as it dries, so you can see when your plant needs a drink. Over time it develops a soft patina. Every pot is finished by hand, so small variations in colour and texture are part of its character.
