Stachys Big Ears - 14cm Pot

Stachys ‘Big Ears’ is a distinctive perennial prized for its large, velvety, silvery-green leaves, often compared to the soft texture and shape of a rabbit’s ears. Forming a dense, low-growing mound, it adds beautiful contrast, softness and texture to garden beds all year round.

Unlike many other lamb’s ear varieties, Big Ears is grown primarily for its lush foliage rather than flowers, keeping its form neat and consistent without the distraction of flowering spikes.

Its striking silver tones pair effortlessly with bright flowering plants and deep green foliage, making it a popular choice for cottage gardens, borders and modern low-water landscapes.

Care & Growing Tips
Plant in full sun to part shade in well-drained soil. Stachys ‘Big Ears’ performs best in full sun, where growth is more compact and dense.

It tolerates a wide range of soils, including poorer soils, but requires good drainage.

Water regularly while establishing, then reduce, as it becomes drought tolerant once mature. It is frost tolerant but may struggle in high humidity.

Minimal feeding is required—an application of compost in spring is sufficient. Remove any dead or damaged foliage as needed, and divide plants in spring to maintain vigour.
