Standard Rose ‘Perfume Delight’ is a beautiful, highly fragrant hybrid tea rose admired for its large, deep pink flowers and rich damask rose perfume. Grown as a 3ft standard, this classic variety brings colour, fragrance and height to garden beds, borders and formal rose gardens.

The large, double-cupped blooms feature vibrant, deep pink petals and a traditional rose shape. Produced in abundance throughout the flowering season, they create an eye-catching display above the plant's green foliage.

One of the standout features of ‘Perfume Delight’ is its intense, classic damask rose fragrance. Its richly scented flowers make it particularly appealing near garden paths, entrances and outdoor seating areas, where the perfume can be enjoyed up close.

Naturally vigorous and upright in growth, ‘Perfume Delight’ is trained as a standard rose, creating an attractive rounded canopy of foliage and flowers above a clear stem.

The 3ft standard form raises the flowers to approximately eye level, making it an excellent choice for adding structure to garden beds or creating a feature planting. It also works beautifully when planted in pairs along pathways or entrances.

Mature size: grafted onto an approximately 90cm (3ft) standard stem, with additional height and width developing in the flowering canopy. Overall size depends on growing conditions and pruning.

Care & Growing Tips
Position: Plant in full sun, ideally receiving at least 6 hours of direct sunlight daily for healthy growth and abundant flowering.

Soil: Prefers fertile, well-drained soil enriched with compost or organic matter. Avoid poorly drained positions.

Watering: Water deeply and regularly during establishment. Once established, provide additional water during extended dry periods, particularly through Melbourne's hot summers.

Mulching: Apply organic mulch around the base to retain moisture, regulate soil temperature and reduce weeds. Keep mulch clear of the trunk.

Fertilising: Feed established roses with a quality rose fertiliser from late August in Melbourne, followed by additional feeding during the growing season according to product directions.

Staking: Standard roses require a strong, permanent stake to support the trunk and flowering canopy. Secure the stem with flexible ties and check regularly to prevent rubbing or damage.

Pruning: Prune during winter, generally in July for Melbourne gardens. Remove dead, damaged and crossing branches, then shorten healthy growth to maintain a balanced, rounded canopy.

Graft Care: Remove any shoots growing from the trunk below the top graft or from the rootstock at ground level. These can compete with the flowering variety.

Flowering Care: Remove spent flowers throughout the growing season to encourage repeat flowering and maintain a tidy appearance.

Cut Flowers: The large, fragrant blooms are suitable for cutting and displaying indoors. Harvest flowers in the cooler part of the day and place stems into clean water promptly.
