Strawberry Big Sweetie.

Botanical Name: Fragaria x ananassa 'Adina'.

Strawberry ‘Big Sweetie’, also known as ‘Adina’, is an Australian strawberry variety grown for its exceptionally large, bright red fruit and sweet, low-acid flavour. It was selected by Strawberry Australia as being very close to the perfect variety for consumers based on taste panel results.

The moderately glossy berries combine impressive size with a particularly sweet flavour, making them ideal for eating freshly picked from the garden. They can also be used in desserts, baking, preserves and fruit salads.

Compact and productive, strawberries are easy to incorporate into home gardens and are equally well suited to raised garden beds and pots.

Care & Growing Tips
Plant in full sun in moist, well-drained, slightly acidic soil with a pH around 6 to 6.5. Before planting, enrich the soil with compost and well-rotted cow manure or worm castings.

For multiple plants, space approximately 20 to 30cm apart, or up to 40cm apart where more room is available for airflow and spreading. A slightly raised bed around 15 to 20cm high can help improve drainage.

Mulch well around plants with straw or pine needles to retain soil moisture, suppress weeds and keep developing fruit away from damp soil, helping reduce the risk of fungal problems.

Water consistently, particularly during flowering, fruit development and extended periods of hot weather. Feed during the growing season with Grow Better Fruit & Citrus Food, following the recommended application rate.
