Tangelo ‘Minneola’ Citrus reticulata × Citrus paradisi is a productive evergreen citrus tree producing medium to large, juicy fruit with a distinctive bell shape and deep orange-red skin. A hybrid of mandarin and grapefruit, Minneola combines the sweetness of a mandarin with a refreshing, slightly tangy flavour.

The fruit has a relatively easy-to-peel skin and typically contains few seeds, making it a delicious choice for eating fresh or squeezing into juice. Its generous juice content and balanced sweet-tart flavour make it a popular addition to home citrus gardens.

Along with its fruit, ‘Minneola’ produces fragrant white blossoms and attractive glossy green foliage, providing ornamental interest throughout the year.

Suitable for growing in the ground or in large containers, this citrus variety is an excellent choice for sunny, sheltered gardens. Fruit typically ripens from July through to October in Australian conditions.

Harvest: July to October

Care & Growing Tips
Plant in full sun in fertile, well-drained soil, preferably in a sheltered position protected from strong winds and heavy frost.

Water regularly while establishing and during extended periods of hot, dry weather. Consistent moisture is particularly important during flowering and fruit development to support healthy fruit production.

Feed with a citrus-specific fertiliser in spring and late summer, following the manufacturer's application instructions. Regular feeding helps maintain healthy foliage and supports flowering and fruiting.

Apply mulch around the base to help retain soil moisture and suppress weeds, keeping it clear of the trunk.

Prune lightly in late winter to maintain a balanced shape and remove dead, damaged or crossing branches. Avoid heavy pruning, as this can reduce future fruit production.

Protect young trees from frost, particularly during establishment. Established trees can tolerate light frosts but may still require protection during severe cold weather.

When growing in containers, use a quality citrus potting mix and ensure the pot has excellent drainage. Container-grown trees will require more frequent watering and feeding.
