Viola Hederacea - 14cm Pot

Viola hederacea, commonly known as Native Violet, is a low-growing Australian native groundcover with rounded green leaves and delicate purple and white flowers held just above the foliage. Flowering can occur throughout the year, bringing subtle colour to shady areas where many other groundcovers struggle.

Spreading naturally by underground runners, Native Violet gradually forms a soft carpet and is particularly useful beneath trees, alongside paths, around ponds and through shaded garden beds. It can also be used as a lawn alternative in areas with minimal foot traffic, provided it receives adequate moisture and care.

During particularly hot, dry or difficult conditions the foliage may die back, but established plants can resprout from their underground runners when conditions improve.

Mature size: approximately 10 to 20cm high, spreading 30cm to 1 metre or more over time.

Care & Growing Tips
Plant in part shade to full shade in moist soil enriched with organic matter.
Water regularly, particularly during dry weather, as Native Violet performs best when the soil remains consistently moist.
It will tolerate a range of soil types and some light frost.
Plants can be easily divided and replanted to establish new areas.
