Description
Weeping Apricot.
Botanical Name: Mume pendula.
One of the first flowering trees of the season, starting in winter and lasting for several weeks. Soft pink, semi-double flowers first appear at the top of the tree and extend down the long weeping branches. Inedible fruit may also appear. Slightly fragrant. A magnificent specimen tree for any garden setting.
Plant in full sun in a well-drained and well-worked soil.
Take care to plant the bud union above the soil level.
Grafted on to a standard, long branches weep to the ground.
Water in well and keep soil moist until tree is established.
Fertilize when planting and again after new growth appears.
Prune tree when planting to encourage new growth.
It can grow to 3 x 3m.
