Westringia ‘Wynyabbie Gem’ is a hardy, medium-sized Australian native shrub valued for its soft grey-green foliage and year-round structure. Lightly sprinkled with mauve flowers across most of the year, it brings subtle colour while maintaining a clean, refined look.

A hybrid of Westringia fruticosa and W. eremicola, this variety combines toughness with a naturally dense, spreading habit, making it ideal for hedging, screening and feature planting. It can be clipped into formal shapes or left to grow more naturally in informal settings.

Exceptionally resilient, Wynyabbie Gem thrives in coastal conditions, tolerating salt spray, wind and a wide range of soil types with ease.

Mature size: approximately 1.5–2 metres high × 1.5–2 metres wide

Care & Growing Tips
Plant in full sun to light shade in well-drained soil. Wynyabbie Gem is highly adaptable and performs well in sandy, loamy and clay soils, including poorer conditions.

Water regularly while establishing, then reduce, as it becomes drought tolerant once mature. It will also tolerate light frost and exposed coastal environments.

Prune as needed to maintain shape. This variety responds well to clipping, making it suitable for both formal hedges and topiary. Apply a slow-release fertiliser in spring if required.

Ideal for
– Formal and informal hedging
– Screening and windbreaks
– Coastal and exposed gardens
– Pots and courtyard planting
– Low-maintenance landscapes
