Wisteria Floribunda Alba - 20cm Pot

Wisteria floribunda ‘Alba’ is a vigorous, deciduous climber producing beautiful cascades of fragrant white flowers in spring. Its long, drooping flower clusters create a spectacular display, particularly when trained over pergolas, arches and other sturdy garden structures.

As the seasons progress, fresh green foliage develops into a leafy canopy, providing welcome shade during summer. In winter, the leaves fall to reveal the plant's twisting woody stems, allowing sunlight through to the space below.

A hardy, long-lived climber, White Japanese Wisteria is an excellent choice for larger gardens where its vigorous growth can be supported and managed. It is particularly attractive when trained over a pergola, allowing the hanging flowers to be enjoyed from underneath.

Mature size: approximately 9 metres high, depending on support and pruning.

Care & Growing Tips

Plant in full sun in fertile, well-drained soil. A sunny position encourages the best flowering. Water regularly while establishing and during extended periods of hot, dry weather.

Provide a strong, permanent support structure, as mature Wisteria develops substantial woody stems and can become very heavy over time.

Prune after flowering to control vigorous growth and maintain the desired shape. A second prune in winter, while the plant is dormant, helps manage size and encourages flowering spurs for the following spring.

Avoid excessive high-nitrogen fertiliser, which can encourage leafy growth at the expense of flowers.
