Wisteria Sinensis Alba Jako - 20cm Pot

Wisteria sinensis ‘Jako’ is a vigorous, deciduous climber producing beautiful cascading clusters of fragrant white flowers in spring. Its elegant blooms hang gracefully from the branches, creating a striking display of colour and fragrance when trained over pergolas, arches and other sturdy garden structures.

Particularly valued for its strong, sweet fragrance, ‘Jako’ is a lovely choice for planting near outdoor entertaining areas, where its spring flowers can be enjoyed up close.

Following flowering, fresh green foliage develops into a leafy canopy, providing welcome shade throughout summer. In winter, the leaves fall, allowing sunlight through to the space below.

A vigorous and long-lived climber, ‘Jako’ is best suited to gardens where it has plenty of room to grow and a strong structure to support its developing woody stems.

Care & Growing Tips
Plant in full sun to part shade in fertile, well-drained soil. A sunny position will generally encourage the best flowering. Water regularly while establishing and during extended periods of hot, dry weather.

Provide a strong, permanent support structure, as mature Wisteria develops substantial woody stems that can become very heavy over time.

Prune after flowering to control vigorous growth and maintain the desired shape. A second prune in winter, while the plant is dormant, helps encourage the development of flowering spurs for the following spring.

Avoid excessive high-nitrogen fertiliser, which can encourage leafy growth at the expense of flowers.
