Magnolia Alba.
An attractive evergreen tree that is extremely popular throughout South East Asia where it is said to bring good luck. From Spring to Autumn, Magnolia x alba produces highly perfumed cream coloured flowers. The fragrance is magnificent, and for this reason, it is used extensively in the perfume industry as an essential oil.
Care
• A warm, sunny aspect is best, though they do tolerate partial shade, and some protection from strong winds will help
• These prefer a moist, fertile and well-drained soil that is slightly acidic.
• Requires some frost protection.
• annual application of good quality general fertiliser in Spring, and mulching and watering during the drier months, especially when the plant is establishing itself.
