Poinsettia
Poinsettias are the symbol of Christmas, used to add festive colour and decor to your home. These easy-care plants prefer a warm part shaded position. Water once a week during summer, however, it will suffer if left wet for long periods of time.
Poinsettias are often bought simply to add a touch of red to the decor during the festive season, after which they are discarded. Instead of throwing out the plant you can give it a severe cutback, fertilise it with a slow-release fertiliser and position the plant in a spot where it will receive a minimum of six hours of indirect sunlight daily. It should grow new shoots and flower again during winter.
