Acacia cognata ‘Limelight’ is one of Australia’s most popular and widely planted dwarf wattles, prized for its vibrant lime-green foliage and naturally compact, mounding habit. Often considered the original and best of the dwarf Acacia cognata varieties, Limelight delivers year-round colour and texture with minimal maintenance.

Its soft, flowing foliage forms a dense, sculptural mound that works beautifully as a feature plant or when mass planted for a lush, layered effect. The bright lime tones provide striking contrast against darker foliage plants, making it a standout in both native and mixed garden designs.

Highly versatile, Limelight performs equally well in garden beds, rockeries, large containers and commercial landscapes.

Care & Growing Tips
Plant in full sun to part shade in well-drained soil. Limelight is adaptable to a wide range of soil types, including lime-rich soils, but good drainage is essential. In frost-prone areas, position in a protected spot such as near walls or under the shelter of other plants.

Water regularly while establishing, then reduce as the plant becomes drought tolerant. Water at the base rather than overhead to maintain healthy foliage. In humid climates, ensure good airflow or consider raised beds or containers.

Feed with a low-phosphorus native fertiliser during the warmer growing months to encourage lush growth. Prune lightly in spring or summer if desired—removing up to one-third of the foliage will help maintain a dense, tidy shape.
