Clematis Kokonoe.
This remarkable variety displays stunning deep violet blooms that undergo a striking transformation as they mature, evolving from single, palm-sized flowers to fully double, opulent blossoms. It is compact enough to be grown in a pot and is a powerhouse in the garden. Bred in Japan by the same breeder as the innovative Clematis ‘Taiga’, ‘Kokonoe’ was shortlisted at the Chelsea Flower Show for Plant of the Year in 2019. It is a hybrid of C. florida and C. integrifolia, combining the best traits of both. Deciduous and a climber.
Plant in full sun to part shade.
Plant in moist well-draining soil.
Water well during periods of extended heat. It can grow to a height of 150-200cm.
