Grapefruit Ruby.
Botanical Name: Citrus × paradisi 'Ruby Red'.
Bring vibrant colour and fresh flavour to your garden with the Ruby Red Grapefruit. This evergreen citrus produces large, yellow-skinned fruit with rich red flesh and a sweet, tangy taste. It’s perfect for juicing, fresh eating or adding ornamental charm to your outdoor space. A great choice for Melbourne and other parts of southeast Australia, the Ruby Red thrives in well-drained soil and full sun. It’s well suited to both backyard planting and large containers.
• Sweet, red-fleshed fruit with few seeds.
• Best in full sun, with protection from frost while young.
• Harvest from late autumn into winter.
• Fragrant spring flowers and glossy green foliage year-round.
Care
• Plant in a sunny, sheltered spot with good drainage.
• While established trees can tolerate light frosts, young plants should be protected from cold snaps with covers or by planting near a north-facing wall.
• Water deeply and regularly, especially during dry spells, and feed with a quality citrus fertiliser every 6 to 8 weeks from spring through summer.
• Prune lightly in late winter to maintain shape and remove dead growth.
