Lagerstroemia Diamonds in the Dark Blush - 20cm Pot

Lagerstroemia ‘Diamonds in the Dark® Blush’ is a striking crepe myrtle prized for its dramatic near-black foliage and soft, romantic pink flowers. In early spring, flawless dark leaves emerge, creating instant contrast in the garden. From summer through to the first frost, masses of delicate baby-pink blooms appear, floating above the dark foliage for a long-lasting, high-impact display.

With a naturally compact growth habit, Blush grows to approximately 3 metres high and 2.5 metres wide, making it ideal for smaller gardens where colour and structure are still desired. Planted en masse, it creates a vibrant flowering hedge, while individual plants work beautifully as feature trees along driveways, fences or pathways. It also performs exceptionally well in large decorative pots on decks, balconies or courtyards.

This deciduous variety drops its leaves in late autumn, allowing sunlight through in winter, before returning in spring with fresh, dark new growth. Diamonds in the Dark® Blush is highly resistant to mildew and offers excellent drought tolerance once established, making it both beautiful and easy to manage.

Care & Growing Tips
Plant in full sun for best foliage colour and flowering. Water thoroughly every other day during the first month to help establish strong roots. Once settled, water requirements reduce significantly. Prune in late winter or early spring while the plant is dormant to maintain shape and encourage flowering. Apply a general-purpose fertiliser in late winter and again in late summer.
