Lagerstroemia Diamonds in the Dark Red - 20cm Pot

Lagerstroemia ‘Diamonds in the Dark® Red Hot’ is a bold, modern crepe myrtle renowned for its dramatic foliage and intense flower colour. In early spring, flawless near-black leaves emerge, instantly creating contrast in the landscape. From summer through to the first frost, the plant is covered in masses of vivid red blooms that glow against the dark foliage for an extended, high-impact display.

With a naturally compact growth habit, Red Hot grows to approximately 3 metres high and 2.5 metres wide, making it ideal for smaller gardens where strong colour and structure are still desired. When planted en masse, it forms a vibrant flowering hedge, while individual specimens make striking feature trees along driveways, fences or pathways. It also performs exceptionally well in large decorative pots on decks, balconies and courtyards.

This deciduous variety drops its leaves in late autumn, allowing winter light into the garden, before bursting back into growth in spring. Care & Growing Tips
Plant in full sun for best foliage colour and flowering. Water thoroughly every other day during the first month to help establish strong roots. Once established, watering requirements reduce significantly. Prune in late winter or early spring while the plant is dormant to maintain shape and encourage flowering. Apply a general-purpose fertiliser in late winter and again in late summer.
