Chocolate Lily.

Botanical Name: Dichopogon Strictus.

Chocolate Lily gets its name from its beautiful chocolate-scented flowers. The edible tubers are slightly sweet and best eaten when young, as they become bitter over time. The plant goes briefly dormant in late summer. Tubers are ready for harvest during the flowering season (Sep-Dec) and can be eaten raw or roasted. As an ornamental, this attractive plant is suitable for mass plantings, as well as adding beautiful pops of purple colour to rockeries and paved spaces. A mass planting of Chocolate Lily may just turn your garden into chocolate-scented heaven towards the end of Winter.

Bush food has sustained generations of Aboriginal peoples for centuries, and today represents a rich and vibrant history in the culture of this land. The Tucker Bush range aims to introduce a truly local flavour to the modern suburban home.

Can be grown in sunny or partially shaded areas.
Tolerates sandy soil and dry weather, but for best results, use a loamy potting mix and water well in autumn.
